Lions Club Ludhiana Vishal came into being in 1981 with Lion G.S. Chawla as the Charter President and Lion N.S. Nanda as the Charter Secretary. Since then the Club has been working with its members on their toes to HELP THE NEEDY.

The members of the Club have been occupying prestigious positions not only at the zone and region level but also at the District level. Two of its members MJF Lion Satish Mahendru and MJF Lion Kamlinder K. Singla were the District Governors of District 321-D and 321-F for the lionistic year 1989-1990 and 1993-1994 respectively. Perhaps Lions Club Ludhiana Vishal is the only Club whose two members have been the District Governors. Lions Club Ludhiana Vishal is the largest Club of Ludhiana and perhaps no other Club has been blessed with such distinguished members who have dedicated themselves and their valuable time for helping the downtrodden and the needy.


Under the guidance of the senior members, the Club has been progressing towards achieving its aim. In appreciation for its efforts, the Club and its members have been many a times been honoured not only by the Zone Chairman, Region Chairman, District Governor, but also by the Multiple Council Chairman and the International Director. Such is the dedication of the members to the welfare of the needy. Appreciating its continuous efforts to undertake activities benefiting the needy, the Club was granted firstly the status of a THREE STAR ACTIVE CLUB and then upgraded it to that of a FIVE STAR ACTIVE CLUB. Continuing this chain of stars the Club was last year given a DIAMOND STAR CLUB status during the lionistic year 1999-2000 under the leadership of an experienced team led by President Lion B.S. Anand and Secretary Lion Ripdaman Singh.

A few years back, in an effort to utilize the potential of the young youth of Ludhiana in serving the downtrodden and the needy, the Club during the lionistic year 1997-1998 under the Presidentship of Lion Anil Sharma and Secretary Lion Anil Agarwal started a Leo Club, Leo Club Ludhiana Vishal, perhaps the only of its kind in the whole Ludhiana city. Lion Anil Sharma has been guiding figure for the Leo Club members since then acting as an Advisor, with the Club taking active part not only in the activities undertaken by the Lions Club but also indulging in theirs also.

The present team under the Presidentship of Lion Dr. Virash K. Gupta and Secretary Lion I. S. Khanna for the lionistic year 2000-2001 is a team, which according to the selectors will take the Club to new height and help in achieving its aim more.
